Split approved The shareholders of the Colonial Motor Company, Ltd passed a resolution on November 5 that each ordinary 200 c share in the capital of the company be divided into 2 ordinary shares each of 100 c effective from January 1, 1971. Kanieri Gold The Kanieri gold dredge won 3370 z of gold during the two weeks to November 15. The dredge worked 226 hours and moved 139,000 yards of material.
Takeover bid Buckinghams Holdings, Ltd, expects a take-over bid within 48 hours. The managing director (Mr Aboud) did not reveal the identity of the bidder. The directors said, “two companies and their associated companies are believed now to own between them approximately 50 per cent of the company’s shares. The board has indications of a possible take-over bid and is therefore revaluing the company’s real estate,” they said. Mannings’ halfyear Mannings (N.Z.), Ltd, has declared an interim dividend of 7 per cent payable December 14. The directors report: that the half-yearly tradings and profits have remained at I a satisfactory level compared with the same period . last[ year. Call by Waihi Waihi Exploration and Mining, Ltd wil make a second and final call of 10c a share on 600,000 ordinary shares (at present paid to 40c) to be made by the company. The trahsfer books of the company will be closed from November 25 to December 2 inclusive, for the purpose of rendering this notice to members on the register. Container order International Containers, Ltd, a joint venture of Comalco, Ltd, Freighter Industries Ltd, and Chiap Hua Manufactory Company (1947), Ltd, of Hong Kong, has secured an order worth $A900,000 for the supply of aluminium sea containers. The order was placed by Overseas Containers, Ltd, of the United Kingdom.
