ABORTION CHARGE

The trial of William David McKenzie, aged 43, an engineer, on charges of attempting to procure an abortion and procuring a drug believing it was intended to procure a miscarriage, began in the Supreme Court yesterday before Mr Justice Haslam and a jury. The hearing is being held in the Provincial Council Chambers. Mr N. W. Williamson appears for the Crown and Mr D. H. Stringer for McKenzie, who has pleaded not guilty to both charges. Evidence was completed yesterday and counsel are to address theUury this morning.
