Mulligan in tennis final

Harter, of the United States, defeated their Japanese opponents to advance into the singles finals of the Japap national tennis championships. Miss M. Caimo, of Italy, and Miss E. Lundquist, of Sweden, lost their matches in the other semi-finals played at the outdoor «Utsubo court here. Mulligan, Italy’s top ranking player, outplayed the Japanese Davis Cup player, K. Yanagi, 7-5, 6-0, 6-2, and will meet J. Kuki, of Japan, in the final on Wednesday. Kuki, who returned to Japan this year after studying four years in the United States, defeated Caimo, 10-8, 6*4, 5-7, 6-2. In the women’s singles semifinal matches. Miss Harter used her powerful serve and good net play to beat Miss K. Ha tan aka, 6-4, 10-8. Miss Lundquist lost to Japan’s leading woman player, Miss K. Sawamatsu. 0-6, 6-4, 3-6. Miss Harter will meet Miss Sawamatsu in the final on Wednesday. Tomorrow Mulligan and Caimo will meet J. Kawamori and T. Koura, of Japan, in the finals of the men’s doubles. Miss Harter and Miss Lundquist will meet Miss Hatanaka and C. Murakami.
