700 in sight
Although the rain-res-tricted first round of the senior cricket championship gave him time to take only two wickets, it should not be very long before the Rlccarton bowler, J. W. Kiddey, becomes only the fourth player in 65 years of club cricket to have a career aggregate of 700 dismissals.
The top aggregate of 1645 is to the credit of R. J. Read, and no-one else has taken half that number of wickets. But T. B. Burtt and D. Sandman both took more than 700; C. T. Rix had 691; and now Kiddey has 692. He has passed both Rix and I. B. Cromb (689) this month.
Kiddey is almost certain to leave 700 well behind; and if he has a really good season, he could very well finish the summer with only Burtt and Read ahead of him. ,
