FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation. —A depression over the Tasman Sea is moving very slowly towards northern New Zealand and pressures are high in a belt extending from the south Tasman Sea to Stewart Island and to the Chatham Islands.

Forecast: Canterbury.—Moderate easterlies predominating; cloudy and rather cool; scattered light rain chiefly night and morning. Marlborough and Nelson.—Easterly winds, fresh in exposed places; cloudy and rather mild; occasional rain, mainly light. Buller and Westland. —Cloudy; moderate temperatures and moderate easterly winds; rain, scattered and light in the south, occasional in the north. Outlook: mainly fair in Buller and Westland ; scattered showers elsewhere. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
