Women’s political party
A new political party will take part in the next state Parliamentary elections in West Germany. It is the Erste Frauenpartei (First Women’s Party). The party was formed several years ago in Mannheim. According to its
chairman, a 36-year-old housewife, Mrs Gisela Gawlik, photographed in her office at home, 18,000 applications for membership have already been received, not all made by women. Its platform calls for “true partnership” between men and women, particu-
I larly in politics. It wants i more women in govemi ment, and women reprel sented more strongly in the professions. ' However, the E.F.P. is not finding the political path without obstacles. Somei times it finds it difficult i to have its aims taken seriously.
