Glassware, soup up
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 11. Crown Crystal Glass, Ltd, manufacturers of general household glassware, have increased the price of all their products by 7j per cent A spokesman for the firm said the increase was very small.- It was mainly caused by labour costs because there was a high labour content in the production of glass. The increase also applied to glass supplied to other manufacturers. TAXI FARES
Auckland and Wellington taxi fares were increased today by 10c on every trip. Mr A. Sinclair, secretary of the Auckland Co-operative Taxi Society, Ltd, said the Ministry of Transport informed him today of an interim decision on the case for higher taxi fares, making
the increase immediate for all taxis in Wellington and Auckland.
Spokesmen for Christchurch taxi firms said that they had no plans for an increase. SOUPS DEARER
The Nestle Company has increased its prices for Milo, Maggi soups and some of its milk products.
The company’s general manager (Mr D. B. Weils) confirmed that those products had increased in price but refused to comment further A retailer in Howick, Mr M. E. Dixon, said a 14-ounce packet of Milo had increased by 2c to 60c, and Maggi mushroom and onion sauces had increased by Ic. He had not received notification of rises for Maggi soups and Nestles milk products.
