Women’s cricket
With the inclusion of two new teams in the Canterbury women’s cricket competition, there will be two grades this season. The four teams in the senior competition are St Albans I, Western, Hagley, and St Albans 11. Senior matches will be played over two days. In the senior matches, which began on Saturday, Hagley was dismissed cheaply by St Albans 11, but in return Hagley took four quick wickets before stumps. In the other match, St Albans had reached a total of 195 for four wickets when rain stopped play.
