Oil dispute deadlocked
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 11. The oil company drivers’ dispute remains deadlocked, and the Wellington Drivers’s Union secretary (Mr K. G. Douglas) said on Friday that the companies’ main tactic seemed to be an attempt to starve his members into submission. In a statement on the dispute, now in its fifth week and beginning to have serious effects on the availability of fuel supplies, Mr Douglas said his union had still been unable to begin negotiations on its claim for an above-award Wellington area margin.
