TWO TO DIE
Louisiana’s plan (N.Z. Prets Assn.-—Copyright) BATON ROUGE, Louisiana, October 6. Two men are scheduled to die in Louisiana’s electric chair early next Friday in what would be the first executions in the United States in three years, the Associated Press reported. Louis Hall, aged 17, and Jesse Washington, aged 21, were condemned for the September, 1968, murder of Taylor Labry, a 63-year-old store owner in an apparent robbery. Washington has already used all available appeal channels and Hall probably
channels and Hall probably will do so today. Stays of execution • have routinely been issued by Federal courts while constitutional issues involved in the cases were before the United States Supreme Court.
No execution has taken place in the United States since Colorado executed Lewis Jose-Monge in 1967 for the murder of his wife and three children.
Burglaries reported. In recent reports of burglaries, $8 was taken from the Northcote School, Tuckers Road, and $9 was taken from the Spreydon Public Library.
