Scottish Command is a son of U Scott and Mary Wootton (by Springfield Globe). Mary Wootton also left Heather Mary, which won nine races and at the stud produced Golden Sands (2min 1 3-ssec). Golden Sands won seven races in New Zealand, including the North Island Oaks, then went on to win nine races in the United States. The top trotter, Highland Flight, a winner at Wanganui last Saturday and successful in 24 races worth more than $37,000 in stakes, also comes from this family. I He is out of Flying Mary, a ; half-sister to Scottish Command. Scottish Command’s second dam, Parisienne, won 16 races and produced La Mignon, the winner of 12 ! races, including the N.Z. Sapling Stakes, and the dam 'of Garcon Roux and Roydon ! Frost. Winners Already Scottish Command has built up an impressive record as a sire. From seven live foals prior to racing in the United States, he sired Scottish Laddie, winner of six including the Great
Northern Derby, Scottish Flight, Loyal Command, and City Command. Last season his four-year-old winners included Scottish Charm, Scottish Dancer, Scottish Folly, Sandal Bay, Mister Averil, Commandaway, Shining Armour and Scotch Penny.
His successful three-year-olds last season included Black Watch, which has won 11 and was unbeaten as a two-year-old, . Bella’s Command and Hundred Pipers. His two-year-olds included Scottish Cheer, a New Zealand record holder, and Scottish Warrior, which also holds a New Zealand record for a two-year-old gelding. Already this season, Scot- 1 tish Command has been represented by five individual winners, among them Hundred Pipers, a winner at Hutt Park and Wanganui, and Shining Armour, which won a double at the Wanganui meeting.
