Devlin, fired a two-under-par 70 on Saturday and gained a three* stroke lead after the third round of the Aloan ‘‘golfer of the year” championship, Assoei* ated Press reported. The 32*year*old Devlin had a 54-hole total of 210 (six under par) on the demanding 7117-yard Portmarnock course. He was only one stroke ahead overnight but pulled away from his challenger with birdies on the seventh and eighth holes. The American, R. Rosburg, and two Englishmen, P. Oosterhuls and N. Coles, shared second place at 213. Following them on 215, were L. Trevino (United States) and C. O’Connor (Republic of Ireland). W. Casper, the United States Masters titleholder and defending champion, was on 217 with two other Americans. H. Johnson and B. Yancey. The New Zealander. R. J. i Charles, with rounds of 78. 70, | 73, held an aggregate of 221.
