TROTTING Stella Frost Picked To Win At Hutt Park

The meeting between Stella Frost, Leading Light and other New Zealand Cup class horses in the President’s Handicap will highlight the first night of the Wellington Trotting Club’s spring meeting at Hutt Park tomorrrow.

Stella Frost made an impressive first start for the season when she finished fourth in the A. E. Laing Handicap at the New Brighton meeting on Saturday.

The daughter of Thurber Frost looked likely to return a dividend as she was closing rapidly on the leaders with half a furlong left, but soon after she came to the end of her run. She is certain to be much improved as a result of that race.

Upper Class, from the limit is certain to take a prominent part in the finish 'if he can take full advantage of his front-running ability. He was far from disgraced when fourth at Addington on Satur. day, after a stylish win in the National Handicap on August 25. He looks better placed on

the limit this week than he was on Saturday, which should help him go close to winning.

Leading Light, on 18 yards, is certain to make a bold bid to reach a place and he might well win. He has done well on this course in the past and after two smart runs for fourth and sixth at the national meeting he should be close to his peak. Plans for True Averill have apparently been changed. After his win on Saturday night, his trainer, F. E. New-

’field, said he would miss the ■ Wellington meeting, hut now it has been decided to start him. That win on Saturday was a first-class effort, and he should earn some of the stake. Radiant Globe, Garcon Roux. Monsignor and James are others expected to show to advantage. A disappointing field will contest the second lig, the City Handicap, for which Globe Bay and Valencia will vie for favouritism.
