Higher Rates For Cartage

Increases in rural and town-cartage rates have been granted by the Secretary for Transport (Mr R. J. Polaschek) on an application by the New Zealand Road Carriers’ Association.

An increase of 4.5 per cent has been granted for rural rates, and an increase of 5.5 per cent on all town-cartage rate schedules.

The decision comes into effect immediately. Any appeals must be lodged with the Transport Charges Appeal Authority, Ministry of Transport, on or before September 17.
