Dawson, minister of the Durham Street Methodist Church in Christchurch and the past president of the council, who presented a recommendation to this effect, said that throughout the world there was a growing awareness that racism was no longer accepted. „ , “Here in New Zealand we are conscious of elements, and even growing elements, of white racism,” he said. The Rev. A. Gnanasunderam, secretary of the council’s Commission on Church and Society, said that New Zealand was very proud of its reputation in the world in race relations.
