Pedalling Exports Stationary-exercise bicycles have joined New Zealand’s manufacturing exports with an initial shipment to Melbourne in the Marama this week. A further shipment will go to Sydney next week in the Maheno. The machines were made in Hastings by Morrison Industries, Ltd. The company annually exports more than $lOO,OOO worth of lawnmowers to Australia, the Pacific Islands, Singapore, Malaysia, and Britain. Exercise bicycles are used by “keep fit” enthusiasts and persons suffering from heart complaints and weight problems. Advice On Zoo Advice from the London Zoo authorities on the planning of the proposed Christchurch zoo has been received by the South Island Zoological Society, which will discuss the zoo scheme further at a meeting on Monday evening Mrs F. Jemmett, a committee member of the society, which now has 41 members, said yesterday that information had also been received from the Auckland and Wellington Zoos. This would be discussed at the meeting and fund-raising schemes would be considered.
