U.K.-AUST. LAUNCHING

Rocket Failure Explained (■N.Z.P.A.-ReuterT-CopvrtßhO LONDON September 2. Britain’s attempt to put a 1801 b satellite into orbit from Woomera, failed because of a reduced bum in the second stage of the Black Arrow rocket a senior Ministry of Technology official said in London tonight. He said that the faulty operation of the pressurisation system in the second stage caused the rocket to cease its burn 13 seconds before the planned time. The third stage fired satisfactorily, but there was insufficient velocity to lift the satellite into orbit, he added. The spokesman said that there was no chance of another launching for several months.
