Maori Broadcast Services
A need for wider coverage of broadcast services in Maori, both at national and regional level, was asserted in a report received by the National Council of Churches at its annual meeting in Christchurch yesterday. The report, from the council’s Maori section, said that at present Maori services were broadcast from Rotorua, and occasionally from other regional stations, depending on whether the churches of the area considered this helpful or necessary. The coverage afforded by Rotorua, however, was limited. The section said that it would prefer either a regular transmission of a Moari service over the national link, or regular transmissions from a greater number of regional stations. This should not be difficult, since tapes could be sent from Enlace to place.
