Arms From Australia

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) CANBERRA, Sept 4.

Australia was now prepared to supply arms as well as military support equipment to Cambodia, the Minister of External Affairs (Mr William McMahon) announced last night Mr McMahon told Federal Parliament that the Government had decided to offer Cambodia aid amounting to s2m, an increase of $900,000 on previous aid. The decision to include arms is a dramatic reversal of Australian policy, as, until now, Mr McMahon has insisted that direct military aid was not possible because of Australia’s participation in, and support of, the Djakarta conference on Cambodia.
