NOVEL RACE DECIDED

(N.Z. Preu Aun. —Copyright) PASADENA (California), Sept. 2. A car powered by an internal • combustion engine burning unleaded petrol, was declared the over-all winner tonight of the Trans-Conti-nental Clean-Air Car Race. The 1971 Capri entered by Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, beat 32 other tow pollution vehicles, including many powered by exotic electric, turbine, steam or hybrid engines. The driving team was Brian Geragthy, Dan Harmon, Mike Riley, and Richard Jeryan, all students at Wayne State University.

They were presented with the award at a banquet at the California Institute of Technology, which sponsored the race in association with the Masachusetts Institute of Technology.
