QUEEN’S GUIDE PARADE
A parade of 100 Queen’s Guide award holders will take place at Government House, Wellington, today. With the scouts, they will be inspected by the Gover-nor-General (Sir Arthur Porritt). Lady Porritt, who is the president of the Girl Guide Association, will present the certificates to the girls. The Queen’s Guides come from all parts of New Zealand and have earned this award during the last year. While in Wellington they will take part in discussions and forums, and on the Saturday evening combine .with the Queen’s Scouts for a dinner dance. At least two years of work, covering a wide variety of subjects and activities, is necessary to earn the award. A Queen's Guide is one who has received a thorough allround guide training and has proved her willingness and ability to use that training in service in her home, at school or work, at her place of worship and in the district in which she lives. The community service aspect requires the giving of
sustained service for a period of at least three months and is of real value in helping girls to realise their responsibility to the community.
