However, the commanding officer of the training ship
Steadfast (Lieutenant-Com-mander W. G. Costello) said in his report that the ship intended to reach its recentlygranted increased complement of 150 in the next intake of cadets. The complement is 100. “The Minister’s announcement to close all- units knocked the wind out of our sails for a few weeks,” he said, “but it was unanimously resolved that we carry on until we are told otherwise. The announcement affected recruiting to some extent, but this improved by the end of the recruiting month to give us 38 new entries.”
