The New Zealand Jazz. Federation has been formed from a meeting in Wellington attended by representa- i fives from Auckland, Hamil-' ton, Tauranga, Taihape, | Palmerston North, Marlborough, Christchurch, and Dunedin. It will act on behalf of all member musicians’ clubs and jazz societies “to increase public awareness of jazz as a cultural art form.” It will . also express opinion to local companies and the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation as a guide to what record releases and programme • material the jazz fraternity wants.
