WIRE FOR SALE

A man walked into the bar of a city hotel last evening carrying on his shoulder a coil of copper wire.

He asked the bar customers if they wanted to purchase it, but, receiving no offers, he left. He then went to another hotel where he again offered the wire for sale. As he was doing so, a number of police arrived. The man was interviewed and the wire carefully scrutinised. The scrutineering established the wire was in fact copper-coated steel wire, and after a few more questions from the police the wire was returned to the man and he left with it still looking for a purchaser.
