FLOODS IN NIGERIA

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copvrighi) LAGOS, September 2.

Four divisions of Nigeria’s South-eastern State have been declared disaster areas, following floods that have claimed 20 lives and left 100,000 homeless. The Government radio said that the state had sent out urgent appeals to resettle the flood victims.

Reports from the state capital, Calabar, said that 78 villages had been flooded by the Cross River. The state Government has asked all relief workers helping victims of the Nigerian civil war to shift their efforts to the new crisis.
