COACH TOUR LICENCE

Auck. Firm’s Application The No. 9 Transport Licensing Authority (Mr J. M. Dwyer) reserved his decision in the case of an application by Bonnici Motors, Ltd, of Auckland, seeking an extension of its licence to enable it to pick up overseas tourists in Christchurch and to take them on tours of the South Island. The company already has certain pick-up rights for overseas tourists in Christchurch but only under conditions where at least half of the tour time is spent in the North Island. The Auckland company’s application was opposed by New Zealand Railway Road Services, Midland Coachlines, Ltd, Days Motors, Ltd, Mount Cook and Southern Lakes Tourist Company, Ltd, and Newman Bros, Ltd. The Christchurch hearing lasted a day and a half.
