Reopened Road

(N.Z. Press Association) BLENHEIM, September 1. The highway from Blenheim to Nelson, closed to traffic between Pelorus Bridge and Canvastown yesterday afternoon as the Pelorus River overflowed its banks and travelled over the highway for three-quarters of a mile, was reopening this morning. But the stretch of road on the Pelorus side of Dalton’s Bridge presented a scene of destruction this morning. More than 30 feet of road seal has been lifted off the road and deposited—still in one piece—lo feet off the side of the road.
