Ballot Selects 2156 Youths (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 25. A total of 2156 young men were selected in the national military service ballot held in Wellington today. The ballot was for 20-year-old youths born between July 1, 1949, and September 20, 1949, and 19-year-old youths born between July 1, 1950, and June 30, 1951. Those drawn, if not exempt for reasons such as inadequate physical fitness, will be required to serve 158 days of training, starting with 14 weeks training in camp and part-time training periods over the next three years to make up the balance of 158 days. They will then be posted to the reserve for three years.
The birthdates drawn were. —1949: July 19; August 10, 27; September 6. 1950: July 2, 19, 20, 23, 24, 27; August 2,5, 17, 23, 31; September 1, 2,7, 18: October 21: November 1, 10, 21, 30; December 4. 1951: January 3, 23, 24, 25,1 29; February 14: March 1, 14, 16, 20: April 7,8, 27; May 1; June 6, 18.
