Sterilisation Proposed

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 26. It was better for a woman to have four healthy children and care for them than to have more and live a life of drudgery, an Aberdeen midwife on a world lecture tour said in Wellington today. Mrs Margaret Myles was explaining the British system of offering sterilisation to women with four children or more. Previously this was done for health reasons, but now it was for a healthy social life.

She spoke out strongly against the permisiveness of modern society, but of abortion reform she said it was better than seeking it out in the back streets. However, she would not like it to be encouraged for single girls
