TIME-TABLE CHANGED

Fewer Flights To Chathams (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, August 26. Changes in the time-table for the Safe Air Chatham Islands service, operative from October 5, were announced today by the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Seath). The new fortnightly timetable will be: First week: Tuesday, Chatham Islands-Christchurch. Second week: Tuesday, Chatham Islands-Wellington. Friday. Wellington-Chatham Islands-Wellington. The new time-table will run until April 4, 1971. Mr Seath said the reduction in the demand for air travel to and from the islands had left him no option but to approve a reduction from four to three flights each fortnight. Additional flights would- be flown if warranted. He attributed the reduced demand for Chatham Islands travel to the decline in the Islands’ rock lobster industry.
