SUNDAY PLAY

Auckland’s Proposal (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The Auckland Cricket Associa* tion will press to have the question of Sunday play in the second England-New Zealand test at Eden Park next March, re-opened at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council. Sunday play was originally included in the Auckland test but the N.Z.C.C. board of control at its last meeting decided to change the dates to eliminate Sunday play. The Auckland C.A. chairman (Mr W. K. Jagger) said at a management committee meeting last night that a letter had been sent to the N.Z.C.C. seeking to have the question of Sunday test play included in the business of the annual meeting in October. The association also decided to suggest a change in the selection system for the New Zealand senior schoolboys side which will tour Australia next summer.

A letter from Mr I. Anderson, of Christchurch, who did the preliminary work for the tour, said that the team would be chosen from nominations from schools. The nominations would close on September 25 and the team would be selected on September 27.

On the motion of Mr G. C. Burgess, the association decided to write both to Mr Anderson and to the N.Z.C.C. suggesting a longer period between the nomination date and selection.
