Hunter Hurt In Fall

(N.Z Press Association) TIMARU, August 24. A young Invercargill schoolteacher was injured today when he slipped and fell 50 feet down the face of a moraine wall in the Tasman Valley, about midway between the Hermitage and the Ball Hut, while on a shooting expedition with a companion. The injured man, Mr Ewan Weir, aged 22, single, is in Timaru Hospital in a satisfactory condition with minor scalp lacerations and concussion. It is understood the accident occurred about 10 a.m. as the men were starting to , cross the Tasman Glacier.

Mr Weir was taken by his companion by car down to the Mount Cook National Park Board’s headquarters. Board staff transported him overland to meet the Fairlie St John ambulance, which completed the journey to Timaru. t
