HISTORICAL SOCIETIES

Federation To Be Formed (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 23. Delegates representing historical societies from Northland to Wellington decided on Saturday to form an organisation to be known as the Fed eration of Historical Societies. The resolution to form the federation was adopted unanimously at a conference of societies, convened in Hamil ton by the Auckland Historical Society in association with the Waikato Historical Society. Mr A. G. Fisk, president of the Waikato society, said that the move to establish a federation marked a big step in New Zealand historical matters.

Interim federation headquarters would be established in Hamilton. The following committee was elected: Mr A. A. M. Moore (Cambridge, convener), Dr J. B. W. Roberton (Te Awamutu), Mr L. B. Sandford (Hamilton), Mr J. V. Mandeno (Te Awamutu), and Mr J. C. Nicholls (Hamilton).
