No Sign Of Soldier

r.V.Z. Press Association* AUCKLAND, August 24. A search of swampland at Meremere today failed to find any trace of a young soldier who has not been seen since he entered the swamps on an exercise on Thursday night Hopes of finding LanceCorporal George Porter, aged 25, alive are receding, but an Army officer said the searchers would not give up for at least a week.

About 120 soldiers and police took part in the search today and will resume their task early tomorrow. An Army helicopter is also being used.
