Activities In Holidays

A trip to the Weka Pass caves and an excursion to Arthur’s Pass will be highlights of the August holiday programme for children arranged by the Young Men’s Christian Association of Christchurch. Trips to a milk factory and an ice-cream factory and tramping over Rapaki Track, the Bridle Path and along Kairaki Beach are other activities. The annual Y.M.C.A. street appeal will be held in Christchurch on Friday, to be followed by a teen-age dance that evening. The activities, which have been arranged by the Central and Bryndwr branches of the Y.M.C.A., will cater for groups of children from standard two upwards. The Arthur’s Pass trip will be for families but the three-day bicycle ride to Weka Pass will be restricted to boys in Form I or above.
