FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation. —A trough of low pressure covers New Zealand; a small depression in this trough has moved south-east over the North Island. Forecast: Canterbury.—East to north-east winds, light to moderate but strong at times near the coast.; cloudy, with further periods of mainly light rain; moderate temperatures. Marlborough.—East to south-east winds, fresh in exposed places; cloudy and cool with scattered rain, more persistent in eastern areas. Nelson, Buller, and Westland. —Light to moderate variable winds; a few light showers but mainly cloudy with moderate temperatures.
