All Sections Firm After Australian Budget
The poet ■ Budget market edged forward in most sections on Australian stock exchanges yesterday. Industrials improved slightly, mainly because of a strong recovery by BHP. B.H.P. jumped 30c to 1490 c, possibly on the strength of the company’s encouraging comments on the Marborough lateritic nickel deposit. E.Z.I. was again a bright spot on the industrial boards with the shares closing at 473 c for a 10c rise. In the mining sector the
speculative nickels remained the centre of attention. Peko improved although it looked weak at the close. Mount Isa eased a fraction although Western Mining, Metals Exploration and Great Boulder added small amounts. Mineral Securities rose 10c.
