Statement By Mr Sheat (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 16. The Queen Elizabeth Arts Council had given its report to the Internal Affairs Department a month ago and was not responsible for delays in its appearance in Parliament, the council’s chairman (Mr W. N. Sheat) said today. “It’s a storm over nothing,” Mr Sheat said of Opposition protests over the late appearance of the report The Opposition moved to reduce the council’s grant for the coming year by $7OOO but Mr Sheat said he would have been much more impressed had it moved to increase the grant by that amount. With another $7OOO a year the council might be able to afford proper staffing and be able to keep all its affairs up to date.
