Overstreet Dead

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) FALLS CHURCH (Virginia), Aug. 18. Harry Allen Overstreet, one of America’s best-selling authors, has died, aged 94. It was only last year that his book, “The F. 8.1. In Our Open Society,” a controversial work opposing the invasion of privacy, was published. His best-known work was "The Mature Mind,” which headed the best-seller lists for more than a year after its publication in 1949. From 1911 to 1939, while he was the head of the philosophy department at the City College of New York, Mr Overstreet published a series of works which have been studied by successive generations of university students.
