(N 2. F. A.-Rent er—Copyright) TORONTO. R. Laver (Australia) yesterday spoiled the bid of R. Taylor (Britain) for a comeback by breaking his service twice in the final set to beat him 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 and win the men’s singles at the Canadian Open tennis tournament. Taylor allowed him three service breaks and did not get into the match until the first game; of the second set when he broke the Australian’s service.

The meeting was the first between the two since Taylor knocked Laver out of the fourth round at Wimbledon; beating him 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, 6-1.
