Otago Seeks G.M Turner

(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. Otago cricket will almost certainly have the services of the opening batsman, G. M. Turner, in the coming season. The Otago Cricket Association’s management committee decided at a meeting last night to open a public appeal to raise the $l2OO needed to pay Turner’s air fares from England to New Zealand and return. The association will tell Turner of this latest development and obtain his confirmation of the position. Employment has been arranged for him in Dunedin.

The president of the association (Mr F. E. C. Geary) said that Turner was keen to return to Dunedin.

Turner, aged 23, is at present playing for Worcestershire in the England county championship. He has scored 1776 runs in first-class cricket this season, including eight centuries. He is second in the English averages behind the West Indian, G. Sobers.
