Cashmere athletes to tour Australia

A 10-day athletics tour to Australia is being planned by the Cashmere Athletics Club for the coming season. The club has made

a provisional booking for 35 persons to fly to Melbourne for the tour, which will be from December 26 to January 6.

The club hopes that it will also be able to include Adelaide in, its itinerary.

Although being organised by the Cashmere club the touring party will not be restricted to its own members. It is prepared to include some other athletes of a reasonable standard from other clubs.

The club started planning two years ago for the tour, which is largely the outcome dt a suggestion

by the president, Mr A. W. Richards, who was the New Zealand marathon representative at the Melbourne Olympic Games.

Mr Richards has indicated that he will not be available for the club presidency or executive for the coming season. Because of his business commitments, he has only limited time to give to athletics and he feels that he can make a greater contribution by concentrating on his coaching activities with younger athletes.
