Ladner now fifth highest scorer
In only five appearances the West Coast full-back, G. C. Ladner, has become the fifth highest scorer for New Zealand in Rugby league test matches.
Ladner kicked nine goals and five field goals in the series against Great Britain last month to add to the 10 goals and one field goal he scored against the 1969 Australians, giving him a total of 50 and an average of 10 points per game.
The New Zealand record-holder, D. H. White, contributed 132 points (two tries, 63 goals) in 21 tests between 1950 and 1956. The three players standing between Ladner and White are J. E. Fagan (1961-65), 95 points, W. S. Clarke (194649), 71
points, and C. A. Eastlake (1951-50), 66 points. White, who missed the 1954 World Cup, the 1955 home series against France and the 1955-56 tour of Britain and France because of Injury, scored a record 467 points (seven tries, 223 goals) in all matches for New Zealand. He played for his country on 61 occasions.
The try scored by R. W. Bailey In the third test against Britain extended one record and brought him closer to another. It was his thirty-seventh for New Zealand, already the most scored by any player, and his twelfth in 29 tests. B. T. Hadfield set the test standard with 15 touchdowns in only 17 appearances.
