$75,000 At Stake On 1970-71 Golf Circuit

WELLINGTON.
Dates for the seven major tournaments of the 1970-71 New Zealand golf circuit were announced by the Professional Golfers’ Association yesterday.
The circuit, which, opens with the Caltex! tournament at Paraparaumu on November 19 and closes with the Forest Products-Stars
,the circuit moves on to the? I New Zealand Open at the Grange. Auckland, one week! later. Prize money in the Caltex is $7OOO and in the open $12,500. The Garden City Classic is from December 3 to 6. and the Otago Charity Classic from December 10 to 13. The circuit will move to the $7OOO J. Wattie Tournament
at Hastings from December 17 to 19: the Spalding Masters ($5000) is to be held over the New Year with the first (round on December 31 and the third on January 2. The $13,500 Forest Products Stars Travel P.G.A. championship at Mount Maunganui, will be held from January 6 to 9. Additional events on the circuit include a one-day. 18hole event for $l5OO entitled the Timaru Pro-Am, on December 7 and a similar competition at Te Puke on January 4.
Travel tournament on January 9, wifi have a total prize money of $75,000.
In addition to the seven major tournaments, there will be sponsored pfo-am tournaments with purses of $1000! before the Christchurch Garden City Classic and the Otago Charity Classic, the two richest tournaments on the circuit.
Prize money for the Garden City Classic, to be played at Russley, and for the Otago Charity Classic at St Clair, will be $15,000 in each case. The Christchurch and Otago tournaments have one other factor in common—the fourth round in each will be played on a Sunday. After the Caltex tournament from November 19 to 21,
