HASTINGS, July 28. John Arthur Devery, aged 26, railway driver, was convicted of driving while disqualified for the ninth time when he appeared in the Hastings Magistrate’s Court this morning. Mr M. C. Astley, S.M., said it was the worst list of convictions for driving while disqualified he bad seen. “It shows complete disregard for the law,” he said. Devery, of Hastings, admitted driving while disqualified, converting a car valued at $1350, and stealing a beer jug. On the first two counts he was gaoled for a year and prohibited from driving until April, 1975. The Magistrate ordered that he be placed on probation for a year after the prison term.

On the charge of theft be was convicted and discharged All the offences were committed at Napier last Wednesday.
