OPEN DOOR CENTRE
New Premises Soon
The Open Door coffee club and youth centre in TUam Street would, in the next few weeks, move to larger premises in Lichfield Street, said the Anglican City Missioner (the Rev. M. Goodall) yesterday. Mr Goodall said he could not name the location as details of the lease were still undecided.
Mr Goodall said a substantial grant had been made available from a trust fund and yesterday a cheque for $llO was received from a Roman Catholic youth group in the city towards the work of the Open Door Centre.
In the next two weeks, and for the first time in two years, the church will be making an appeal to business houses in the city for financial support for its Open Door work. Mr Goodall said it was planned to extend the work of the centre and to keep it open for ail ages, day and night. He believed the Open Door centre was enabling its organisers to achieve more contact in depth with young persons.
