July 20 Best exhibits in the Timaru Canary and Cage Bird Club’s twenty.sixth annual show at the week-end were as follows: Best Yorkshire canary and best champion: D. S. and P. R. Hutchins (Timaru). Best novice: F. and M. Lowen (Oamaru). Best Norwich canary and best champion: D. J. Johns (Waimate). Best novice: A. Traves (Timaru). Best Border canary and best novice: Keith French (Christchurch). Best champion: R. s. and S. A. Hemmingsen (Christchurch). Best new colour canary and best champion: E. and F. Goodhew (Greymouth). Best novice. M. ad J. Edmond (Ashburton) Best Gloucester canary and best novice: M and T. Ross (Auckland). Best champion: L. and M. Cattermole (Temuka). Best roller canary and best champion. H. C. Brown (Dunedin). Best novice: M. and Mrs Wattiman (Palmerston). Best budgerigar and best champion: M. D and Mrs Neale (Christchurch). Best novice: E. J. McKay (Oamaru). Best British bird: P. Radonovitch (Christchurch). Best British hybrid: F. L. Wederell (Timaru): Best zebra finch: N. W. MacDougall (Christchurch). Best foreign bird: L. and M. Cattermole (Temuka).

Judges were unanimously of the opinion that top birds in all sections were of a high standard. Entries were down on the previous year.
