LEGAL AID APPEALS
Appointment Of Authority fjy.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 20. The appointment of members of the Legal Aid Appeal Authority was announced today by the Minister of Justice (Mr Riddiford). Under the legal aid scheme, which came into force in April, the authority will hear appeals against decisions of district legal aid committees. The chairman of the authority is a former judge of the Supreme Court, Mr A. L. Tompkins Other members are Mr A. W Yortt, a retired stipendiary magistrate, of New Plymouth; Mr G. B. Fea, barrister and solicitor, Invercargill; Mr A E. Hurley, barrister and solicitor, Wellington; Mr B McClelland, barrister and solicitor, Christchurch; Mr J H. Sheat, barrister and solicitor. New Plymouth; and Mr J. E. Sinclair, barrister and solicitor, Auckland.
