Low-Budget Foods
A symposium to discuss food needs and costs in times of rising prices will be held at the University of Otago from August 24 to 27. Organised by the Department of University Extension, the programme will include questions of nutritional needs, food budgeting and buying, economy meals, and allied subjects. They will be discussed by specialists in the subjects. The first of its kind to be held in New Zealand the symposium has been planned for advisers in health, educational, social and welfare agencies. Food problems of specific groups, such as elderly pensioners, Islanders or Maoris adjusting to urban life, young persons living in flats, deserted wives and other families living under stress, will be covered. Enrolments are open to all who work professionally or in a voluntary capacity with such groups,
