N.Z. EXPO PAVILION
Fate Not Yet Decided W.Z P.A. Staff Correspondent) OSAKA, July 19. The fate of New Zealand's pavilion at Expo 70 has not yet been decided. Detailed negotiations over the disposal of the five pyramid-topped buildings which comprise the pavilion are continuing, and no decision has been made, a New Zealand official said yesterday. Suita City, close to the Expo site, made an original bid to have the building reerected as a guest house or civic centre, but no agreement has been reached on who would foot the bill for dismantling the 31,500 square foot structure.
New Zealand, like the other participating countries, has agreed to leave the site exactly as I‘ found it when Expo ends in September. It is understood that several other Japane e organisations are interested in taking the building, if flnancial terms can be agreed upon. Some businessmen are also interested in re-erecting the Meat Board’s geyser room restaurant on another site, but no agreement is likely lin the near future.
